As we reflect on the past year, we are filled with immense gratitude and pride. The New Jersey School of Conservation has long stood as a beacon of environmental education, stewardship, and community engagement—and 2024 was a year that reminded us just how powerful this mission continues to be.
Our 2024 Annual Report is more than a summary of numbers and events. It’s a celebration of connection—between people and the land, between students and their potential, and between our historic mission and a sustainable future. We invite you to take a few moments to explore the report and relive some of the milestones that made this year unforgettable.
Expanding Access, Deepening Impact
This year, we were proud to welcome over 2,000 visitors to our campus nestled in the heart of Stokes State Forest. From school groups to families, researchers to retreat participants, the diversity of those engaging with our programs continues to grow. Each visit is an opportunity to spark curiosity, build ecological awareness, and nurture a deeper respect for the natural world.
Our staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to expand our offerings, enhance our facilities, and deepen the impact of our core programs. We launched new seasonal workshops, piloted innovative environmental education curricula, and hosted special events that brought together community members from across New Jersey and beyond.
Collaborations That Enrich and Inspire
We believe that real progress is rooted in collaboration. In 2024, NJSOC partnered with local schools, environmental organizations, universities, and state agencies to strengthen our programming and broaden our reach. These partnerships not only allow us to do more—they reinforce our role as a hub for environmental learning in the region.
Stories of Growth and Discovery
Perhaps most inspiring are the personal stories shared by those who spend time here. Teachers who see their students light up during a pond study. Children who catch their first pumpkin seed sunfish. Families who reconnect with each other—and with nature—around a crackling campfire.
These moments remind us that the School of Conservation is not just a place—it’s an experience. It’s a space where lifelong memories are made, and where the seeds of environmental stewardship are sown.
Looking Ahead
As we look to the future, we are energized by the momentum we’ve built. We are continuing to restore and revitalize our campus, expand our educational programs, and find new ways to share the magic of this place with more people from all walks of life.
We hope you’ll take time to read through the 2024 Annual Report and celebrate the accomplishments we’ve achieved together. Whether you’re a longtime supporter, a first-time visitor, or someone just learning about our work, thank you for being part of our journey.
Together, we’re nurturing a more sustainable, curious, and connected world—one outdoor experience at a time.
