We’ve passed many milestones in the past year and last week we celebrated another big one!
For decades, the NJSOC was known for its exceptional teacher professional development trainings. Teachers learned techniques in “hands-on, field-based, experiential, social emotional learning and differentiated education” before any of those terms ever existed.
For three days and two nights we welcomed and inspired teachers once again during our STEAM into Monarch Butterfly Conservation workshop. They were our first overnight group back onsite since reopening and we shared an extra special experience.

- stargazed from canoes on Lake Wapalanne
- hiked our trails
- shared their loves of ecology and education
- found inspiration
- lost their fears of taking children outdoors to learn
- worked together to design and plant a native plant garden
- told stories at a Piney Point campfire
- designed butterfly pizzas in Big Timbers
- made new friends
- …and so so so much more!
