SUMMARY:A Tale of Two Habitats
DESCRIPTION:Meet some of the small creatures that live in SOC’s water habitats & learn what they tell us about the health of their aquatic environment.\n\n\nMany aquatic animals serve as “bio indicator” species\, or species that reveal the ecological health of their environment. In studying macro invertebrates (animals without a backbone that can be seen with the naked eye) we can determine the quality of that habitat. Join former NJ SOC Environmental Educator\, Jennifer Correa-Kruegel\, in investigating macro invertebrates found in stream and lake habitats. \nThis program is open to adults and to children ages 8 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult. In case of inclement weather\, the rain date for this program is Sunday\, September 26. Registered participants will be notified by email if the event is postponed. Registration is required. \n\n\nThe Friends of the New Jersey School of Conservation is a U.S. tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. When NJSOC closed in July 2020\, the Friends launched a campaign to save it. This ultimately led to negotiations with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection\, owners of NJSOC\, to obtain an interim management agreement for the School. This agreement was finalized in April 2021\, and the Friends of NJSOC are proud to offer limited programming at NJSOC with the help of dedicated and talented volunteers. We are pleased to register you for one of our programs!
